Introduction

Rapid serial visual presentation (RSVP) is one of the most recognisable technologies in modern speed-reading apps. Instead of showing a page of text, an RSVP system displays words one at a time in a fixed location on the screen. The appeal is obvious: if moving the eyes takes time, why not keep the eyes still and bring the words to them?
